Jersey City-based free-form radio station WFMU (available at 91.1 FM on your dial in the NYC area, or 90.1 in the Hudson Valley; streaming here) marks its 50th anniversary this year. To celebrate, the station is using its annual pledge drive to try and secure at least $100,000 for the purchase of a booster antenna to "give WFMU the coverage that our broadcast license has long promised but which local geography and buildings have always denied us." Like the bumblebee, free-form radio should be physically unable to fly, but thanks to the generosity of aesthetes like yourselves, it continues to defy the hard-hearted dictates of the marketplace. Certainly there are institutions more deserving of your charity, but how many of them will give you an awesome bumper sticker in return? Click here to make a contribution.
